1.Admission confirmed
Admission Notice usually contains admission information such as major, duration of studies and language used in teaching, and registration information such as time, place and materials needed for freshman registration.
*Freshmen are encouraged to confirm their accommodation arrangement with the school in advance, so as to avoid the situation of being unable to stay in the dorm due to room shortage. The usual ways to contact school are email and telephone.
2.Life necessities during study in China
Electronic devices: laptop and accessories, power adaptor, AC adaptor, portable charger, etc. (The standard voltage in China is 220V. The picture below shows the standard power socket in China. Please bring your own voltage conversion devices.)
Bedding: bed sheet, duvet cover, pillowcase, duvet, mattress, etc.
Toiletries: lippers, bath towel, towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.
Clothing: China has a vast territory; thus there are great climate differences in different areas and it is difficult to provide tips for what clothes to wear. Please prepare your clothes according to the geographic location of your school.
Common drugs: drugs for respiratory and digestive diseases, painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs, mosquito repellent, moisturizer and so on.
It is advisable to bring some cash (RMB) with you to pay the basic expenses for transport from airport to school and daily necessities.

Studying in China, which may be thousands of miles away from your home, we recommend that you just bring the most important documents, clothing and other belongings. Items such as electrical appliances and daily necessities can be purchased on campus and in nearby shopping malls. China’s cities are packed with large and small shopping malls, supermarkets, it is very convenient for you to buy everything you need. In addition, online shopping and online payment in China have been very popular these days. Just click the mouse or tap your mobile phone when staying at home, you can complete all the purchasing tasks.
Moreover, we recommend you to bring some home-style costumes, musical instruments, picture books, photographs or other small souvenirs with you. These souvenirs can not only remind you to remember your hometown when staying in Beijing, but also promote the exchanges with your classmates to mitigate your nostalgia.
Besides, you’d better not bring too much medicines with you. As you know, you can go to the local hospital or school hospital for medical treatment after registration at school.
In addition, according to the regulations of the Chinese government, opium, morphine, heroin, marijuana and other addictive narcotic drugs and psychotropic drugs, as well as all kinds of weapons, simulated weapons, controlled knives, ammunition and explosives are all prohibited from being brought into China. 3.Currency exchange at banks
Foreign currency exchange
The foreign currencies carried by international students can be changed into Chinese RMB at nearby banks after arriving in school. You can also open an RMB bank account in China. You can bring the following currencies and convert them into RMB: GBP, HKD, USD, EUR, JPY, Canadian dollar, Australia dollar.

Traveler’s cheques
Most banks in China can cash traveler’s cheques in US dollars. However, it usually takes about 40 days to process foreign currency cheques, so we still recommend that you bring some cash with you.
Wire transfer
You can also wire transfer the cost of living and other expenses to your account in China. Please bring sufficient cash to cover your short-term accommodation and food after arrival.
Cash withdrawal at bank counters
Banks have a limitation on the daily cash withdrawal for credit or debit cards. Please check your daily withdrawal limit for your credit/debit cards in China prior to departure.
4.Insurance
While studying in China, international students need to buy medical insurance and personal accident insurance. You can purchase it either in your own country or in China. To date, most of Chinese universities will provide the guidance of medical insurance purchase, claims and other related services for international students.
