Flywire, a third-party payment platform in the United States, announced a partnership with Tencent Financial Technology, a fintech arm of China’s tech giant Tencent, on Thursday.
According to the company, Flywire has extended WeChat Pay as a payment option for Chinese students and families making education payments abroad.
Through Flywire, Chinese students can pay their education institution using WeChat Pay in Chinese currency renminbi.
Payers can be assured that they will receive the added benefit of Flywire’s around-the-clock support in their local language. Meanwhile, higher education institutions will receive the exact amount owed, reconciled to the penny in their own currency.
WeChat Pay, one of China’s popular digital wallets, is a mobile payment service run by China’s tech giant Tencent.
