Youth exchange fosters cross-cultural friendships

 

Qingdao in East China's Shandong province hosted the closing ceremony of the "SCO Youth, Encounter Qingdao" study tour on July 9, featuring cultural performances and presentations by international students.

Over seven immersive days, 100 international students from 30 Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries, including Pakistan and Tajikistan, explored China's intangible cultural heritage, experienced Qingdao's unique mountain-sea landscapes, visited cutting-edge tech companies, and traced the city's development history.

Through immersive exchanges, they deepened their understanding and appreciation of China, forging friendships with peers from around the world.

Reflecting on his journey, Iqbal Zahid from Pakistan, who is now studying at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, remained enthralled and inspired by Haier's transformation from a small factory to a global leader in smart home technology.

He said he believed that with effort, anything is possible. The marine biology lecture highlighted China's commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development, which is crucial in the modern era.

Chernegova Daria, a Russian student studying at Sichuan University, marveled at China's rapid technological advancements during a visit to iFlytek. Each technological breakthrough showcased "Chinese speed", leaving her amazed and hopeful for a better world through ongoing technological progress.

Uzbekistani student Raximova Shahnozaxon Dilshodovna highlighted the benefits of cultural exchanges in her hometown of Tashkent, where activities like Sino-Uzbek cultural exhibitions, food festivals, and joint artist performances foster mutual understanding, respect for cultural diversity, tourism development, and trust between nations.

As the future torchbearers of SCO nations, these young participants have deepened their understanding of China and Qingdao's urban transformation through this immersive program. The study tour created a dynamic platform for cross-border learning, mutual inspiration, and collaborative growth, injecting vibrant youthful energy into building a closer SCO community with a shared future.
