Congratulations on your acceptance to study in China! As you prepare for this exciting journey, we’ve put together a helpful guide to make your pre-arrival and registration process smooth and stress-free.

Before You Arrive 

Documents Checklist

☑️Passport with valid student visa (X1/X2)

☑️JW201/202 Form

☑️Admission Letter

☑️Original academic documents

☑️Health check report (if required)

☑️Passport-sized photos 

Financial Preparation

➔Complete tuition and accommodation payments as instructed. (If you have a scholarship, confirm the activation process.)

➔Inform your local bank about your travel to avoid card issues.

➔Bring some RMB cash for your first few days.

Pack Smart

Make sure you pack wisely to start your life in China comfortably and conveniently! 

☑️Weather-appropriate clothing-Check the climate of your city and pack accordingly.

☑️Universal power adapter–China uses Type A, C, and I outlets.

☑️Essential medicines–Bring commonly used drugs, along with a doctor’s prescription if applicable.

☑️Electronics-Don’t forget your laptop, chargers, and power bank.

☑️A translated map or address–Have your university’s name and address in Chinese to show drivers or ask for directions.

Digital Preparation 

Before you come to China, you can download helpful applications that normally used in China.

➔WeChat (for communication and payments)

➔Alipay (mobile payment)

➔Baidu Maps or Amap (navigation)

➔Pleco (Chinese dictionary)

Besides, for your safty, you may also save important contacts to make sure solve problem when you meet emergecy situation.

On-Campus Registration

When & Where to Register

📌Most universities in China begin registration in August or September.

📌Be sure to check your email, university website, or international student WeChat groups for specific dates and locations.

Airport / Train Pickup Service

Many universities offer free pickup services from major airports, train stations, or high-speed rail stations.

👉 Simply look for your university’s welcome booth, or contact the International Student Office in advance.

💡 No pickup? No problem—you can easily reach campus via taxi, subway, or bus.

Registration Steps

👉Check-in and submit documents for verification

👉Pay tuition (if not done earlier) and confirm payment

👉Take photo for student ID and campus card

👉Move into your dormitory

👉Complete on-campus medical check and apply for residence permit

👉Meet your advisor and attend the freshman orientation

After Registration

1. Complete your university system registration and install essential apps (WeChat, Alipay, campus apps)

2. Note that meal cards and water cards might be separate—ask how to use both

3. Be prepared for possible placement tests (Chinese or major-based)

4. It may take time to adjust to different accents—be patient and keep practicing! 

5. Don’t miss orientation events and the opening ceremony—it’s a great way to meet people!
